Cycling underwear characteristics

The purpose of a sports underwear is to take sweat on your body and expel it. If your perspiration stays on your body or if it stays in a fabric like cotton and many other natural fibers, it will freeze. That's why at Velos Cadence we have underwear in synthetic fabric or merino wool. Our underwear includes "suits" so a sweater and pants that we put as a first layer and "Boxers" for women and men.

The different levels of warmth and breathing of the underwear

Merino wool underwear is ideal for the most cautious. For those who are warmer in cross-country skiing or Fat Bike, underwear in synthetic fabrics and with a collar with zip is more suitable. Compared to the round neck, the advantage of the collar with zip is its ability to be "unzipped" for more ventilation. Bjorn Daehlie offers an alternative: an undergarment with merino wool in places where you tend to have colder (shoulder joint, chest, crotch, buttocks) and very breathable net in places where more perspiration (armpits, knees, back). We have long underwear and other shorter ones, which come to the knees and stop at the shoulders, for warmer days.

How to protect the parts of our body most at risk of freezing?

In order to keep hot places at higher risk of getting cold (belly, chest, shoulders, buttocks, crotch), it is important to have undergarments with windproof panels in these key places. Moreover, since they tend to have cold buttocks, a product much appreciated by women is the Midzero Bun Toaster Sugoi.
